Nomads bikie gang boss Hassan "Sam" Ibrahim was shot by people who knew him and police fear there may be revenge attacks as part of an ongoing gang war.

eldest Ibrahim brother

The former Nomads bikie gang boss Hassan "Sam" Ibrahim was targeted in a drive-by shooting when he was standing in the front yard of his parents' home in the western Sydney suburb of Merrylands just before 7pm (AEDT) on Thursday.

A light-coloured car drove past the house on Price Street, with Sam Ibrahim shot twice, once in each thigh.

Police believe the attack on the older brother of nightclub supremo John Ibrahim wasn't a random shooting.

Acting Gang Squad Commander Superintendent Wayne Hayes said the shooting was attempted murder, and he expected Mr Ibrahim knew who was after him.

"I do have concerns there may be revenge attacks," Supt Hayes told reporters on Friday. "I expect his co-operation."

Supt Hayes, who is yet to interview Mr Ibrahim, said it was too early to say whether a string of recent shootings and attacks on tattoo parlours in Sydney are linked to the incident.

The former bikie boss had two bullets removed from his legs at Westmead Hospital, where he was in a stable condition on Friday.

Neighbours told AAP they heard "at least" two blasts.

"I heard something but had no idea it was gunshots," said one woman, who asked not to be named. "There were at least two bangs. Maybe three."

It's believed Mr Ibrahim was outside the house with his mother, bodyguard and a family friend at the time of the shooting.

"It happened all in front of her eyes, she saw everything, she is in deep shock," Ray, a family friend, told the Seven Network.

The attack came less than two months after a drive-by shooting at the home of Mr Ibrahim's sister, Armani Stelio, in the northern suburb of Ryde.

About 20 bullets were fired into the house, but no one was hurt.

Following the attack on his sister's home, Mr Ibrahim was shown in television footage speaking to police at her property.

In June 2009, Mr Ibrahim's brother Fadi Ibrahim was shot five times as he sat with his girlfriend in his car outside his home in the lower north shore suburb of Castle Cove.DISCLAIMER:Text may be subject to copyright. This blog does not claim copyright to any such text. Hassan ‘‘Sam’’ Ibrahim, was shot twice in the legs at close range

latest act in a what is believed to be a war between rival gangs took place Merrylands last night when the eldest of the Ibrahim brothers, Hassan ‘‘Sam’’ Ibrahim, was gunned down in a drive-by shooting.
Mr Ibrahim, 45,

outside his parents’ home on the corner of Holdsworth Street and Price Street, Merrylands, at about 6.45pm. He was taken to Westmead Hospital, and was discharged about 11pm.

The Holroyd Local Area commander, Brett McFadden, said police were investigating the number of shots fired and were calling on anyone with information to come forward. Anonymity would be respected, he said.

A light-coloured car carrying at least two people slowly drove by the house and several shots were fired, police said.

A resident of the street said he heard shots and then screams from the house where the shooting took place. He said family members were visibly distressed.

Sam’s brother, the nightclub entrepreneur John, arrived soon after the shooting with a group of men but quickly left.

Sam Ibrahim has been living off and on at his parents’ home since being bailed over an alleged kidnapping last year. He was charged over the knee-capping of two men in Newcastle in 2004 and over a late 1990s cocaine distribution ring involving. He was acquitted on both matters.

The main suspects in last night’s shooting will be members of the Comanchero Motorcycle Club, who have been engaged in an escalating war with the Ibrahim family and the street gang linked to them, Notorious.

Last night police sources indicated that Notorious members would perceive an attack on him as an attack on the gang.

Mr Ibrahim’s shooting comes just hours after acting assistant police commissioner Stuart Smith said they did not believe other shootings yesterday in Lansvale and Fairfield West and Wednesday night in South Wentworthville and Dean Park were related.

Last night, hundreds looked on as police closed off Price Street and Holdsworth Street. When news rippled through the crowd that the incident was a shooting, onlookers began to discuss the other recent shootings and said they did not believe they were unrelated.

‘‘A couple of months ago there was a shooting in Desmond Street and now there’s one here,” one upset onlooker said.

“We have children around here. There is a problem, the authorities should fix this.”

Residents of Price and Holdsworth streets were unable to return to their homes last night until close to midnight as police had cordoned off the area.DISCLAIMER:Text may be subject to copyright. This blog does not claim copyright to any such text. Police have denied suggestions there is an all out bikie gang war in western Sydney

Police have denied suggestions there is an all out bikie gang war in western Sydney but have said their may be revenge attacks after the Ibrahim shooting in Merrylands.
Sam Ibrahim, 45, was shot twice in the legs at close range outside his parents’ Merrylands home at about 6.45pm last night. He was taken to Westmead Hospital.

Acting gangs squad commander Wayne Hayes said the shooting was an attempted murder. He said a police gangs squad was investigating this attack as well as a drive-by in Doonside on January 11.

‘‘I do have concerns there may be revenge attacks,’’ he said.

When asked whether there was a bikie war breaking out commander Hayes paused in thought before he answered no.

‘‘Certainly there have been a number of incidents as you suggested before [but] a war, to use that term you’ve used, I would say no,’’ he said.DISCLAIMER:Text may be subject to copyright. This blog does not claim copyright to any such text. Copyright remains with the original copyright holder.

A light-coloured car carrying at least two people slowly drove by and several shots were fired, police said. It is understood Mr Ibrahim was bleeding heavily.

His brother, the nightclub entrepreneur John, arrived soon after the shooting but quickly left.

Sam Ibrahim was taken to hospital by ambulance. Police were guarding the entrance of the hospital's emergency wing.

The Holroyd Local Area Commander, Brett McFadden, said police were investigating the number of shots fired and were calling on anyone with information to come forward. Anonymity would be respected, he said.

Mr Ibrahim has been living off and on at his parents' home since being bailed over an alleged kidnapping last year.
He is the eldest of four brothers, who include John, shooting victim Fadi and Michael, who has been convicted of manslaughter.

In June 2009  Fadi Ibrahim, 35, was shot five times as he sat outside his Castle Cove home with Shayda Bastani-Rad, now his wife. She was shot as well.

He and his youngest brother Michael have since been charged with conspiracy to murder relating to an alleged plot to kill the man they thought was behind the shooting, a Sydney man, John Macris.

The main suspects in last night's shooting will be members of the Comanchero Motorcycle Club, who have been engaged in an escalating war with the Ibrahim family and the street gang linked to them, Notorious.

The head of the Comanchero, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is understood to be a staunch opponent of the Ibrahims. In the past several days a tattoo parlour linked to Notorious has been trashed, the home of a senior member been shot at, and another senior member had his leg broken.

Although Notorious is officially led by Alen Sarkis and his right-hand man, "Crazy Dave" Lima, police believe Mr Ibrahim is an important figure in the gang.

Last night police sources indicated that even if Mr Ibrahim did not control Notorious, its members would perceive an attack on him as an attack on the gang.

And, regardless of who is behind the attack, gang members will undoubtedly blame the Comanchero. Mr Ibrahim is a life member of the Nomads Motorcycle Club.

A prominent figure in the Kings Cross criminal milieu in the 1990s, he was president of the Nomads' Parramatta chapter in the early 2000s.

He was charged over the knee-capping of two men in Newcastle in 2004 and over a late 1990s cocaine distribution ring involving the Nomads. He was acquitted on both matters.

Rumours have been circulating among the underworld that Mr Ibrahim has been trying to reform the Parramatta Nomads with him again the president.

In late November one of Mr Ibrahim's sisters, Armani Stelio, was at home when her Ryde apartment was sprayed with more than 20 bullets in a drive-by shooting.

A day later, Notorious's sergeant-at-arms, Sabre Murad, was shot at his Doonside home. His home was also the target of a drive-by attack on Tuesday.DISCLAIMER:Text may be subject to copyright. This blog does not claim copyright to any such text. Copyright remains with the original copyright holder.

Salt Lake murder suspect a familiar face in Belize | The Salt Lake Tribune

Salt Lake murder suspect a familiar face in Belize | The Salt Lake Tribune: "Jules Vasquez recognized the man in the photograph right away.

'It’s Big Tom,' he said. 'Absolutely, 100 percent.'

Kenneth Lewellyn Flowers, 33, sits in Salt Lake County Jail, charged with shooting and killing a man in a Main Street apartment on Dec. 18.

Prosecutors have also charged him with being a restricted person in possession of a firearm, because he was twice been deported to Belize.

That’s how Vasquez, a reporter in Belize City, recognized him. For the better part of a decade, Kenneth 'Big Tom' Flowers was known as an enforcer for a once-prominent Belizean street gang — a usual suspect for police officers, someone who knew about life on both sides of the gun.

'He was notorious,' said Vasquez, who has covered the city’s gang problems for 7 News in Belize. 'I knew him as a hitman. He was a gun for hire.'

In 2002, Flowers was shot in the chest but refused to cooperate with police in an investigation, according to Belizean media reports. He was charged with shooting and killing a man in front of a mechanic’s shop just two days later, though he was never convicted on the charge."

Man jailed over Moran killing 'stupid', says judge | The Australian

Man jailed over Moran killing 'stupid', says judge The Australian: "MAN involved in the shooting of Desmond 'Tuppence' Moran could walk from jail in less than a year, after a judge found he had tried to make amends for his act of 'genuine stupidity'. Michael Sam Farrugia, 46, has agreed to give evidence next year at the trial of others accused of the murder, including Des Moran's sister-in-law Judy.
Victorian Supreme Court judge Lex Lasry today sentenced him to four years in jail, with parole possible after two years.
He has already spent over a year in custody.
Justice Lasry said Farrugia deserved a substantial discount on his jail term for his cooperation with police and for pleading guilty to a manslaughter charge.
“Although there is minor offending in your past it is of no real significance for these purposes,” Justice Lasry said. “In the trial of your three accomplices, the Crown will place substantial weight on your evidence."

Hells Angels and Bandidos motorcycle gangs, which they believe to have criminal leanings, are expanding to Estonia.

'Criminal' Biker Gangs Moving to Estonia, Finland Warns Culture News ERR: "Finnish police have warned their Estonian colleagues that the Hells Angels and Bandidos motorcycle gangs, which they believe to have criminal leanings, are expanding to Estonia.
'Our info shows that such a migration from Finland to Estonia has been going on,' Finnish criminal investigator Tapio Kalliokoski told ETV. The officer alleged that 60 to 70 percent of Finland's large-scale drug crimes have been related to biker gangs.
Lenno Reimand, the Criminal Police Department's information bureau chief in Estonia, said that the experience of other countries shows that the biker gangs have close ties to criminal activities.
Estonian bikers association president Aare Kõuts said the claims are no more than media sensationalism and stereotyping. 'I don't think there is any point to deepening these stereotypes,' said Kõuts.
In the 1990s, two of the world's most infamous biker groups began expanding to Finland from Denmark and Sweden. The trend correlated with a string of bloody gang-related conflicts that sometimes ended in bar fights, other times worse."

Pagans Motorcycle Club: Outlaw Motorcycle Club, Prince George's County, Maryland, Triumph Engineering Co Ltd, Hells AngelsPagan's motorcycle gang figure arrested in N.J., charged in rival's '08 attempted murder Philadelphia Daily News 12/16/2010: "He was once the baddest guy in the biker world - a convicted gunman who spent several tumultuous years atop Philadelphia's notorious Pagans Motorcycle Club.
But when police came to arrest Steven 'Gorilla' Mondevergine on a new set of attempted murder charges, the motorcycle thug was holed up at his mother's house in New Jersey.
The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office said that Mondevergine was taken into custody yesterday in Washington Township, N.J., without incident.
Mondevergine was arrested and charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault in the January 2008, shooting of former Pagans president Timothy 'Casual' Flood at the Pagans headquarters, on Torresdale Avenue near Disston Street, in Northeast Philadelphia, the D.A.'s office said.
Sources at the time of the shooting said that Mondevergine had a dispute with Flood, the new president of the club - in part because he wanted his job back.
Flood originally told police that he was wounded in a drive-by shooting in the parking lot of a local pub, but an investigator at the time said that 'there was no crime scene, no blood, no shell casings, no nothing, nor were there police radio calls reporting gunshots in the area.'"

Gang members could be banned from entering rival territory or wearing distinctive 'colours' - Telegraph: "“Gang injunctions” will allow courts to ban people from going out in public into certain areas of towns and cities.
The wearing of certain “gang colours”, possibly as bandanas, will also be prohibited fr.
The injunctions will also prevent members from “being in public with a particular species of animal, for example a dog which had previously been used as a weapon”.
Lasting for up to two years, the injunctions can be applied for by police and local authorities and will be issued by a court. The new powers come into effect from Jan 31.
James Brokenshire, the Crime Prevention minister, said: “Gangs cause significant and lasting harm to our communities through fuelling violence, creating an atmosphere of fear and drawing young people into criminality."

Nazario Moreno, nicknamed “The Craziest One”, who headed La Familia (“The Family”), a mafia outfit based in the state of Michoacán

leader of one of Mexico’s most feared mobs was shot dead. The victim was Nazario Moreno, nicknamed “The Craziest One”, who headed La Familia (“The Family”), a mafia outfit based in the state of Michoacán. Mr Moreno, author of a spiritual self-help book known as the Family Bible, was tracked down after organising a lavish party that the police got wind of.
His death on December 9th rounds off a year during which senior members of almost every big drug gang in Mexico have been locked up or killed. A year ago Arturo Beltrán Leyva, whose sprawling empire once infiltrated the American embassy, was shot dead by marines near Mexico City. A month later Víctor Mendoza, a senior member of the Zetas, was killed by hit men from the Gulf cartel. The Gulf’s co-leader, Antonio Cárdenas, was killed by the army and marines in November. In July Ignacio Coronel, who was third in command of the Sinaloa mob, suffered a similar fate."
