Outlaw motorcycle gang.:Missing body a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma
Queensland man associated with an outlaw motorcycle gang may have been murdered.
But no body has been found and there is no known victim.
Detective Senior Constable Graeme Simpfendorfer, from Victoria's Armed Crime Taskforce, said police believed the murder occurred in the northern suburbs of Melbourne in 2005 and involved several people.
Although they had assessed the information as credible, they have yet to identify the alleged victim who was believed to be aged in his 40s, fit-looking with a thin build and wide shoulders.
He was also said to have short hair and skin described as olive or tanned. He is thought to be from Queensland or South Australia and been associated with outlaw motorcycle gangs.
A computer-generated face image of the man has been released and detectives have urged people with information about his identity to come forward.
"There may be relatives, associates, friends who recognise this man and we implore them to contact Crime Stoppers,'' said Det Snr Const Simpfendorfer.
"This is really a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma and definitely one of the more bizarre investigations in which I have been involved.
"However, we are confident a murder has occurred and identifying the victim would be a leap forward in what is currently an investigation without a great number of leads.''
