Police in Tenerife say they have finally seized all the assets illegally gained by a gang of drug traffickers, all of them British.Five people have been arrested on suspicion of dealing in speed and using the proceeds to buy into real estate, luxury cars, plots of land, yachts and high society living.The assets, including bank accounts, have an estimated total value of around 12 million euros.Property seized in the operation codenamed Footprint include three houses in Playa de la Arena, Puerto Santiago, a plot of land of 2,500 square metres and two villas. Police are also investigating three parcels of land and a house in Marbella.Also confiscated were a number of top of the range vehicles such as a Mercedes, Porsche, two Hummers and a Ferrari; a house in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria; and two garages and two store rooms in Santiago del Teide.The investigation involved police in the Canary Islands, Britain and mainland Spain and began last November when a lorry was intercepted in Oxford. Police said the Spanish end of the operation was led by a woman who made frequent trips to Scotland and organised the transport of the drugs from Belgium into the UK.Of the five people arrested, two were in Marbella and three in Tenerife.
